Normally, I hate when there isn't a huge build up to the first time characters become intimate, but it shockingly didn't actually bother me in The Winter King. All of her motivations and actions are believable — all of her heartaches, her failures, her triumphs are expertly crafted to make the reader (or listener) root for the outcast who was never loved by anyone. I love the premise, almost awesome.
